Now who's the Anti-Christ again?

I just got a robo-call from Dr. James Dobson calling me as a pastor to defend my church as a "watchman on the wall" against the attacks against the church's Tax exempt status. Come on Mr. Dobson, Jesus said to render unto Caesar that which is Caesars, and unto God that which is Gods. There are much more pressing concerns in the world today, like the fact that the church in America seems to worship and serve money.

"I will not stand by and watch this [church] destroy itself under mediocre leadership that drifts from one crisis to the next, eroding our ... will and purpose."

Internet withdrawl

In these days of Instant communication and information, not having regular internet service is almost like going through a withdrawal from addiction. Indeed it is an addiction for many (rhetorical question: how many times a day do you check facebook?). I love how I can look up a fact or find out the latest news, google the definition of a word, find an address, see pictures of distant relatives and friends etc... The list goes on... So I guess I'm thankful for the internet, and I'm looking forward to getting my highspeed DSL back.

Confluence:

It's my word of the week apparently since I have been using it far too often in ordinary speech. If you notice the new subtitle, you may think I'm being a bit harsh, but I put that there partially tongue-in-cheek because I am now officially (despite my years of conscious avoidance) part of the pastoral staff of a church again. So the Antechurch is going to Church (or vice-versa). I eagerly look forward to how this concept of Antechurch will grow over this next season.

As my dear friend Ed put it: 'I'm not interested in religion, I'm interested in dealing with the heart of the way things are' (sorry Ed for the gross mis-paraphrase). For those of you who are inclined my family and I are grateful for your thoughts and prayerful meditations as we delve into this new challenge.
